Anambra: Ozubulu Church Killings, South-East entertainers reacts

The yesterday early morning attack on St. Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State has thrown the entire South East into mourning.

The attack which occurred as at 6:am Sunday morning has left several people dead while others get injured.

Abacityblog gathered that worshippers for 6 o’clock Sunday mass at St. Philip Ozobulu were in the service when a gunman dressed in black attire covering his face with a cap entered the church and moved straight to a particular direction and opened fire.

Reports had it that some Boko Haram elements carried out the attack - But Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar dismissed the report and said the attack was carried out by a lone wolf gunman, who is an indigene of the area.

Umar told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka that the remains of the dead had been deposited at Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi.

Umar also said that the injured had been taken to the hospital - while revealing that preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the attack was carried out by an indigene of the area.

Contrary to the incident, entertainers from the South East, Nigeria has reacted over the incident - they poured out the heartfelt to the families that lost their loved ones in the attack.

They sent out their condolence messages via their various social media handles:

Nollywood actor, Chidi Mokeme said, "The perpetrators must be brought to justice.

Music artist, Kcee said; "My heart goes out to the families and friends of the innocent victims who lost their lives at the St. Philip Catholic Church gun attack in Ozubulu Anambra State.
