On the 12th of may 2017, the Supreme Court affirmed Okezie Ikpeazu as the Governor of Abia State.
The case was filed by Uche Ogah who had accused Ikpeazu of allegedly submitting false tax information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a judgement by the apex court, it faulted the judgement of the High Court, even as it awarded the sum of N250,000 against Ogah.
Mr Oga’s appeal was dismissed for lacking merit.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria described the case as a storm in a teacup, which shouldn’t have been entertained in the first case.
Governor Ikpeazu dedicated his victory to the people of Abia state, who he said stood by him all through the period of litigations. He also called on his contenders to forget the past and "Come to the table" for the betterment of those that really matter, who are the people of Abia State as he bears no grudges for anybody.
Just as everyone expected, Uche Ogah accepted his defeat in good faith and congratulated Gov. Ikpeazu for his victory.
Now that peace has come to stay in Abia State and all distractions made away with, what do we expect from the government.
Ex governor T.A. Orji has urged the governor to accept and reunite all Abians not minding whether they supported him or not.
In an interview with Flo FM, Uba Chiemezuo Anyawu, Board Member Abia State Revenue and Produce referred to Gov. Ikpeazu as a rare gem and assuring Abians to stay calm as nothing will change to the downside pertaining to the infrastructural developments the governor has been involved in despite the distractions.
But people of Abia State has alot to complain about mostly on the aspect of Salaries which are being owed. The masses has raised cries on various media platforms passing across their grievances to the government.
Enyinnaya Apolos yesterday in Magic FM Aba has urged abians to expect to see the governor working towards their directions as there are no going back in the good thing the governor of the state has been doing.
Now that the distractions and litigations are over, WHAT'S NEXT?
This is the BIG QUESTION for the week. I can't possibly answer this, only those dinning in the government house can possibly profer answers to this question.
Will workers be paid?
Will the infrastural development continue and in a high rate?
Will the Chinese Investors come for real?
