The Ebonyi State local government and Chairmanship council polls result which was announced yesterday, Sunday 23rd April 2017, was swept by the members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.

Declaring the results in Abakaliki, the Chairman of the state Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), Chief Jossy Eze said seven political parties participated in the election which he said was peaceful.

He listed the political parties to include ADC, APA, APC, MPPP, PDP, SDP and UPP.

He said in Abakaliki Local Government Area,
APC chairmanship candidate - 820 votes
PDP candidate - 65, 036 votes.

Afikpo North Local Government Area,
APC candidate - 512 votes
PDP candidate - 55, 808 votes.

Afikpo South Local Government,
APC candidate - 33 votes
PDP candidate - 50,894 votes.

Ebonyi Local Government Area:
APC - 608 votes
PDP - 54, 527 votes.


Ezza North  Local Government:
PDP - 58, 423 votes.
APC - 209 votes

Ezza South Local Government area,
APC  - 381 votes
PDP - 50, 576 votes.

Ikwo Local Government Area,
APC  - 756 votes
 PDP - 77, 132 votes.

Ishielu Local Government Area,
APC - 375 votes
PDP - 68, 263 votes,

Ivo Local Government
APC  - 439 votes
PDP - 28, 787 votes.

Izzi Local Government Area,
APC - 728 votes
PDP - 84,088 votes.


Ohaukwu Local Government Area,
APC - 1, 189 votes
PDP - 76, 428 votes

Ohaozara Local Government Area,
PDP - 55, 637 votes.
APC candidate - 95 votes

Onichal Local Government,
PDP - 59, 698 votes.
APC - 385 votes.

Meanwhile, a report from Dailysun revealed that the candidate of APC for Kpirikpiri ward 3, Nnaemeka Obiegbunam, had, shortly after the results were announced, stormed  EBSIEC headquarters along Onwe Road Abakaliki  with his supporters to protest the result of the ward.

He noted that he won the election convincingly and should be declared the winner. But chairman of PDP in the state, Onyekachi Nwebonyi said his party deserved  victory  in all the local governments and wards as according to him, it worked hard for the poll and also mobilised its members.
