Abia State gets a nominee for NDDC board

NDDC
An indigene of Abia State, Nwogu Nwogu  has been nominated on the board of the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Nwaogu's name made the list of the names President Buhari sent to the Senate on Thursday for screening and confirmation.

The names are for the replacement of those sent and rejected by the Senate in October, last year. The affected states are Ondo, Abia and lmo states.

The Senate, while giving reason for the rejection, said their nominations by the president contravened the NDDC Act which stipulated that nominee must represent oil-producing areas of their respective states.

The president, in a letter addressed to the Senate and read by Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, nominated Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Chukwa Anwawa (Imo) and Nwogu Nwogu (Abia).

He said the new nominees would serve as replacement for the ones earlier rejected by the Senate.

According to him, “in accordance with section 228 of the NDDC Act 2000, I, hereby, present the following nominees to the board of the NDDC for confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
