Narrating his ordeal, Prof. Ezeibe a researcher in veterinary medicine at MOUOA Umudike Umuahia has constantly decried his failure in his attempts to get Ministry of Health’s cooperation on the discovery.

According to him; “Medical doctors have been coming to me through the Vice Chancellor to take this drug free of charge to treat their patients.

“They have been coming back to report to me of the potency of the drug; that is to say that the drug is capable of curing people who have AIDS.

“Incidentally the Federal Ministry of Health petitioned the university that the I did not follow the ethical process but refused to say whether the drug is potent or not.

“I have made attempt to go to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control to make my case known but failed because the ministry blocked me, Ezeibe added.

Meanwhile, Senator Theodore Orji former Abia State governor, representing Abia central has made a strong case for Prof. Maduike Ezeibe at the house of Senate over the rejection of the drugs and why health minister declared it illegal.

Presenting his petition on Wednesday at the floor of the NASS, Sen. T.A Orji said that the professor complained that attempts to get Ministry of Health’s cooperation on the discovery failed.

Orji also said that the petition to the senate was to ask it to look into the case to find out whether he had done anything wrong by painstakingly working to help find solution to a dreaded ailment.

In his remarks however, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided at plenary, asked Orji to lay the petition before the senate.

It was subsequently referred to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions with four weeks deadline to report back.
