Obinna Uzoije: Constructing A Flyover At Osisioma Junction Is Completely Out Of Priority

By Obinna Uche Uzoije

Popular things outweigh right things. But in our country, this practice flies first class.

The politicians want to do something that every one will see. They want to place it in the middle of the town where we have much more development. If you've seen Osisioma junction in Aba, you'll know that constructing a flyover there is completely out of priority. You don't need to bend down and see, even in Yugoslavia, it is known that there are no roads in Aba.
Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu flagged-off the Osisioma Flyover yesterday, 20th January, 2017
I know a road called Ngwa Road in Aba. Another, Omuma road. Faulks road was under demolition few weeks ago and pockets of drainage put in place and after that, nothing else. Ariaria market have been just that way ever since T.A Orji. Port Harcourt road, moribund but people will say it's federal road as if it's only Buhari that commutes the road. I cannot mention upto half of them. No traffic lights in Abia state, apart from the temperamental one in Umuahia. No developmental inputs for these shoe makers. Unpaid salaries.

Osisioma junction can be widened. Lanes can be added. It can be cleaned up too. Other places have not known governance in years. You don't even go there to campaign because you end up making a caricature of yourself.

Learn to prioritize. Are you constructing for the people you don't care about? Because you make a name off constructing a flyover at Osisioma junction while the common man pushing truck at Ariaria to make little nothings will have to roll his wheels through stagnant water and he has done it for close to 10 years now. Ama Ogbonna market is almost solely funded by people living in Omuma road. No one cares about them, we just joined the governor yesterday at Osisioma and applauded him as he awarded the Chinese construction company the contract of building the flyover. Nobody asked questions.

Osisioma has seen construction every tenure while other places are at the bottom of the food chain. They are dying out. Do something.
