The suspect was a notorious ritualist and serial rapist who raped most of his female victims before killing them for rituals.

He was also believed to be responsible for the disappearance of some children in recent times.

According to report, he met his Waterloo early Monday morning after attacking a girl who had gone to throw away refuse on the street.

Irked by the unprovoked attack on the hapless victim, some vigilante men on the street were said to have descended on him and clubbed him to death.

The source said the suspect who always disguised as a mad man by dressing shabbily was discovered to be wearing very clean under wears which suggested that he was in his right senses.

However, the full identity and nativity of the suspect were yet to be established.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Umuahia Central Police Division, Mr Ezekiel Onyeke, however, said the man was a mentally deranged person.

He said police in partnership with the Health Department of the local council were making efforts to evacuate the remains of the deceased so that it would not constitute health hazards to residents of the area.
