A statement from the commissioner for Information, culture and Strategy, comrade Bonnie Iwuoha said people are free to go and cast their votes as there is no restriction of movement.

The work free day, he said, is to enable workers in the Abia state civil service who registered in their homes the opportunity to go and cast their votes.

Youths and other citizens in Abia state are therefore advised to maintain peace and tranquility within the state as they go about casting their votes for their preferred candidates for the Local Government elections.

The police and other security agencies are also advised to protect all citizens and ensure that law and order are maintained.

Meanwhile, not less than 43 chairmanship and 532 councillorship candidates from four political parties have been cleared to contest in tomorrow's local government elections in Abia state.

The Secretary of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Mr Tony Mgbarine, made the announcement in Umuahia on Monday.

He said the candidates would contest on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Labour Party (LP).
