2019: APC will take over South-East - Godson

Mr. Benedict Godson, Abia State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in an interview with New Telegraph, speaks on the recent stand of APC in the South-East geopolitical zone, and how they will come out victorious come 2019 general election.

Speaking about the position of APC in the South-Eastern region, Godson said, as long as a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tony Nwoye has moved over to APC. "I can tell you that any moment from now a former Senate president from the zone will be in APC", he added.

Speaking further, Godson said; "APC is widely accepted by the Easterners. The truth of the matter is that we are not into propaganda; we believe in practical things. We believe in what people see; we don’t like saying what is not possible.

Comparing the just concluded Ondo State governorship election, and what he believed will happen in the South-East come 2019, Mr. Godson said;

"What happened in Ondo State will happen in the South-East and definitely APC will have majority of the states in the zone after 2019. With the assistance the APC in the South-East is getting from people like Governor Rochas Okoroacha of Imo State; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige; I am not talking about the minister from Abia State because if we have one we don’t know, the zone will go places.

Speaking about Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu's defection to APC, Godson said it's a plus one and a miracle to members of APC in the South-East.

"It was a wonderful thing. I believe it is a miracle because with the presence of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu in APC, the party will go places in the state and South- East in general. It is a good one; it is a welcome development for the party.

"I was present the day His Excellency Orji Uzor Kalu was received into APC and South-East vice chairman, Chief Emma Enuku said some credible things that gave me hope that they have really discussed the way forward for the party in the South-East.

"The party has come to stay in the state going by those who are in APC in the state like His Excellency, Orji Uzor Kalu; former deputy governor, Chris Akomas; Senators Chris Adigheiji and Nkechi Nwogu; our former governorship candidate, Dr.Nyerere Anyim; High Chief Ikechi Emenike, Elder (Mrs) Eunice Uzor Kalu, Chief Tony Ukasanya, Hon Stanley Ohajuruka and many others. I can tell you that the party has come to stay in the state.
