Ikpeazu gifts cash to best performers Abia Students at 2016 National Children Arts, Science and Technology

Abia State students who won the recently conducted National Children Arts, Science and Technology, Exhibition Expo 2016 have been appreciated.

The Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu praised the students while hosting them at Government House, Umuahia for putting up best performance nationwide.

The Governor also gave cash donation of #500,000 naira to the over-all winner, Dority International School, Aba while the 1st and 2nd runners-up, Victory International College, Aba and Divine International School, Aba received #300,000 and #200,000 naira respectively.


Also, NTA received #500,000 naira, #500,000 was made available for the teachers of the students. Ministry of Education and Management of NTA were given #300,000 to carter for logistics of taking the students to and fro, Abuja for the competition.

The Governor said he was not surprised at the feat achieved by the students as Abians were known to be talented, he stressed that the success was symbolic as the schools have been consistent in producing top-flight students.He used the oppotunity to disclose that in few months' time, Abia will witness complete change in the evolution of education, maintaining that he will ensure every community becomes proud of the schools in their vicinities.

Dr. Ikpeazu said he will not ignore the research of turning waste to wealth, which was one of the activities that gave the students the leading position in the competition and expressed hope that the children would become great inventors in the future.


The Governor, who assured the students that he was mindful of the efforts of their teachers, stressed that it takes patience to produce qualitative students and congratulated both the students and their teachers.

Speaking earlier, a former General Manager of NTA and leader of the delegation, Victoria Anyim thanked the Governor for honouring the children that made Abia proud.She presented the trouphy won and said that the nation-wide competion conducted by the NTA was aimed at gathering children and bringing out the potentials in them, appreciated the attention the Ikpeazu's administration is paying to education.

In a vote of thanks onbehalf of his colleaugues, Master Igwe Chukwuka of the Dority International School thanked the Governor for hosting them. He said the gesture has encouraged them much and promised that they will continue to make Abia State proud through their performances.
